Mitchell Gordon Henderson, a former American college basketball coach, was born August 14, 1975. He is currently the Princeton Tigers’ head basketball coach. Prior to taking up the Princeton position in 2011, Henderson was an assistant coach for the Northwestern Wildcats men’s basketball team for eleven seasons under Bill Carmody. As a Princeton player, Henderson was part of three Ivy League champion Princeton teams. Two of these were undefeated in conference. The first tied the school record of 19 consecutive wins while the second achieved 20. Along with Steve Goodrich, he was co-captain for the second undefeated league champions.

1997-98 saw a 27-2 overall record and reached the top 10 of the national polls. The team also achieved a 14-0 conference record. The 1998 NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Tournament was won by the Tigers on a winning streak of 19 games. They finished the season eighth in the USAToday/NABC Coaches poll. He was selected for the 1998 All-Ivy League 2nd team. He scored 19 points in the tournament’s opening game for fifth-seeded Tigers to help them beat UNLV Runnin’ Rebels 69–57. As a basketball player, he was a four-year starter at Princeton University, where he was captain of the Ivy League champion 1997–98 Princeton Tigers men’s basketball team as well as a member of the 1995–96 and 1996–97 conference champions. The latter two teams were undefeated in conference play and were coached by Carmody. The 1995–96 team was notable for its upset of the defending national champion UCLA Bruins in the 1996 NCAA Tournament.
